Is Your Website Mobile-Friendly?

Is your business, school, or non-profit website mobile-friendly? If you're not sure, go to Google's Mobile-Friendly Test tool to find out. After you get your results, come back to our post for information about your results.

Is My Site Mobile-Friendly?

We are crossing our fingers that you saw the message from Google below when the test completed:

Message describing that the website being tested is mobile friendly

If you did see this message, then kudos to you! You are on the ball and can check off one major item on your 'Well Engineered Website' requirements list.

If you did not see the message above, then you experienced the dreaded ‘Not mobile-friendly' message:

Message describing that the website being tested is not mobile friendly

This is a bad message. It means you should start thinking about updating your website as soon as possible for the following reasons:

  1. Google penalizes sites that aren't mobile friendly. This can have a drastic effect on organic search results ranking, especially in competitive markets.
  2. Your business website will most likely look awful and function worse on mobile devices. Most traffic on the internet today comes from mobile devices, so you're potentially turning off a large portion of your site traffic.

So, it's great that you ran the test. That means you care. If you received the 'Not mobile-friendly' message, it's time for the next step, which is to contact your website agency, developer, freelancer, or whomever, and tell them this needs to be addressed as soon as possible.

This is important to take care of now because your image, brand and quite frankly, your reputation is taking a hit each time someone views your website on their mobile device. (Assuming they can find it in the first place!)

If your website agency is not able to help, please give us a call. We specialize in making your website, and you, look good.
